Thirty-eight global civil society organizations, including the Arab Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP) and the Arab Coalition for the International Criminal Court (ACICC), have jointly filed a brief before the US District Court for the Southern District of New York in support of a lawsuit challenging the legality of sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump against the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The joint brief was submitted by Amnesty International, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and 36 other organizations in support of a lawsuit brought by the American Friends Service Committee, the Center for Constitutional Rights, Human Rights Watch and Open Society. The lawsuit challenges the legality of sanctions imposed under Executive Order 14203, which targeted ICC judges and prosecutors, human rights experts, and three Palestinian human rights organizations: the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, and Al-Haq.
